Aluminum is a soft metal and as such it is suseptible to scratches. OxSiCoat provides a protective barrier to the underlying metal that protects it from wear and tear. When OxSiCoat is used as a super seal the hardness of the composite is higher than that of the anodize alone. The coating is so efficient that the thickness of the underlying anodize can be reduced to tens of nanometers (with obvious cost savings). Even an incredibly thin layer of OxSiCoat will increase the scratch resistance, but the thicker the coating the greater the abrasion resistance.
